ROYERSFORD PA – Robert Rizzo, who began work in the Spring-Ford Area School District during June 2019 as assistant superintendent, was promoted Monday (Feb. 22, 2021) to acting superintendent – the district’s chief operating executive – in an unanimous vote by its school board. He succeeds former Superintendent Dr. David Goodin, who resigned in December to relocate to a superintendent’s job in North Carolina.
Rizzo is currently pursuing a doctorate in “educational leadership: instructional technology” through Wilkes University. He earned his superintendent’s letter of eligibility in 2015 from California University of Pennsylvania, and earlier his principal certification and master of education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Rizzo is a graduate of Penn State University.
The acting superintendent began his career in 1993 as a band director in the East Allegheny School District. Since that time, he has served as a band director for Penn Hills School District and Indiana Area School District.
He also has worked as an assistant principal at Indiana Area Senior High School, principal at Ben Franklin Elementary School, coordinator of instructional technology for Indiana Area School District, and before coming to Spring-Ford as assistant superintendent of the Indiana Area School District.
