PENNSYLVANIA — A Pennsylvania man will spend at least five years behind bars after his infant son died from head injuries at the Outer Banks in North Carolina in 2018, according to authorities and a media report.
Thomas William Imschweiler, 34, of Harrisburg, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the case, court records show.

His five-month-old son, Franklin Thomas Imschweiler, was not breathing, the report states. The exact nature of what occurred remains unclear, but the child suffered serious head injuries, police said.
The child was taken to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, where he was treated for serious head injuries, according to authorities.
Imschweiler was initially charged with felony child abuse and taken into custody on July 20. The child died on on July 22.
An investigation determined that Franklin had suffered the injuries at some point between July 14 and July 17.
