Burn off those extra Thanksgiving calories while helping students at Montgomery County Community College combat food insecurity at the same time, and join students in the Exercise Science and Wellness (ESW) program for the Gobble Wobble 5K run/1-mile virtual walk fundraiser November 22-28.

Community members are invited to walk with ESW students in person on Monday, Nov. 22, at 10:15 a.m. in the Health Sciences Center courtyard on the Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, yet they can participate all week through the virtual fundraiser.

Participants can submit their time and see how they stack up against other contributors.

The suggested donation for participation is $5 or $1 per kilometer, though any amount is appreciated and goes directly to the fund. Register today for the event or make a donation.

“This project allows ESW students to gain experience organizing an event from planning to day of participation,” says Michelle Donovan, ESW instructor. “This semester, students chose to help their fellow classmates who may be food insecure. The College’s food pantry is available to any current students in need of food.”

Last year, students ESW students worked up a sweat performing 8,235 jumping jacks, 200 burpees, 397 baskets, 773 sit ups, and 2,200 jump ropes during the virtual Montco Games, said Donovan.

The fundraiser benefited the MCCC Foundation, which supports the College’s Emergency Fund, Technology Fund, and general scholarships.
