On Thursday, August 19, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties will reopen its West Norriton ReStore, after an electrical fire forced it to close in November 2020.
ReStore, a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center, has been fully renovated and is ready to welcome back customers and donors.
Proceeds from ReStores support building homes for families in Habitat’s homeownership program. Habitat ReStores are retail centers where new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, and building materials are sold at discounted prices.
A grand reopening event will take place today, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at 533 Foundry Road in West Norriton.
The reopening celebration will continue throughout September with a daily raffle.
“It’s been a long 10 months since this ReStore closed and our community has been patiently waiting for this day,” said Michael Mercer, Habitat for Humanity of MontDelco ReStore Director. “ReStores are unique shopping outlets – carrying inventory that is often sought after by a contractor, interior designer, a homeowner looking to remodel, or the local DIY-er ready to do some upcycling. We’ve all been looking for ways to spruce up our living spaces during the pandemic and ReStore’s affordability makes that a possibility for everyone, even those of us on a budget!”
The remodel of the 18,000 sq. ft. West Norriton ReStore features an improved layout for a better customer shopping experience, fresh paint on the interior and exterior, energy-efficient lighting throughout the entire building, and all-new HVAC. More than 130 volunteers helped remodel the building.
The West Norriton ReStore will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Those looking to donate to ReStore are able to schedule contactless pick-ups online or by phone at (610) 631-3149. Donations can also be dropped off at the store on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Now in its 32nd year, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties’ mission is partnering with local residents to provide a “hand up” by helping build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable, 0% interest mortgage.
Habitat also provides low-cost home repairs, financial literacy, and empowerment education courses, and revitalizes neighborhoods. Visit here for more info.
