DLN WRESTLING ROUNDUP (Jan. 30): Henderson keeps rolling, handles Downingtown West

West Chester Henderson 57, Downingtown West 9 >> The Warriors (4-0 National Division, 4-0 overall) put up their fourth-straight 50+ point outing to start the year, defeating the Whippets (1-2, 1-2) in 11 of 13 bouts. Max Jackman (120 pounds), Billy Wilson (126), Matt English (138), Palmer Delaney (145), Sammy McMonagle (152), Jake Laws (160), Bobby English (172) and Koh Bauman (189) registered falls for Henderson. Dom Findora (132) and Matt Micale (285) were the only winners for West, with a technical fall and major decision, respectively.

Avon Grove Tri-Meet >> Downingtown East (1-1 National Division, 2-2 overall) defeated Avon Grove (0-3, 0-5), 60-16, but fell to Sun Valley, 39-24. Keanu Manuel (126), Ryan Loraw (132), Alex Hillestad (145), Bo Horvath (160), Matt Romanelli (189) and Ray Wileczek (215) went 2-0 for the Cougars. Avon Grove went winless with a 67-6 loss to Sun Valley. Josh Rueter (285) made his season-debut, and went 1-1, with a pin, and Brock Wickline (138) and Zach Sharp (145) also earned wins for the Red Devils.

Powerade Tournament >> In a rare big-time tournament for this season, Malvern Prep won the team title over some of the top PIAA schools in the state. Allowed to enter more than one wrestler at each weight, Malvern even had two finalists at 189 pounds, where Jack Wehmeyer defeated teammate Caden Rogers, 5-3, for the title. Jack Consiglio (106 pounds) and Nick Feldman (215) won titles, Cole Deery (285) finished runner-up, Nik O’Neill (120) placed third, Spencer Barnhart (126), Owen Quinn (160) and Andrew Connolly (172) earned fourth, Tommy Link (113) and Owen Veitmeier (215) took fifth, Reed Fulmer (138) got sixth and Isaiah Wright (172) wound up with an eighth-place finish.
